Warranty
Last Updated - October 1st
At Essex Garden Irrigation, we want every system we install to continue performing as it should long after we leave your garden.
That’s why our installations are backed by our workmanship warranty, alongside any applicable manufacturer warranties on the equipment we install.
Installation Workmanship Warranty
We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty on new irrigation systems installed by Essex Garden Irrigation.
The warranty period begins from the date the installation is completed and commissioned.
If a fault develops during this period as a direct result of our installation workmanship, we will inspect the issue and, where it is covered by this warranty, put it right at no additional labour charge.
Examples may include:
-
leaking connections resulting from our installation;
-
incorrectly installed irrigation pipework;
-
installation-related valve or manifold issues;
-
incorrectly fitted sprinkler or drip irrigation components; and
-
other faults directly caused by our workmanship.
This warranty is provided in addition to your statutory consumer rights.
Equipment & Manufacturer Warranties
Controllers, pumps, valves, sprinkler heads, solenoids and other equipment may also be covered by warranties provided by their respective manufacturers.
The length and terms of these warranties vary depending on the manufacturer and product.
Where we have supplied and installed the equipment, we will reasonably assist you with identifying or dealing with a manufacturer warranty claim where appropriate.
A manufacturer's warranty is separate from our workmanship warranty and remains subject to the manufacturer's own terms and conditions.
What's Not Covered?
Our workmanship warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by circumstances outside our installation work.
This includes:
-
accidental damage;
-
damage caused by gardening or landscaping;
-
excavation or digging after installation;
-
damage caused by other contractors;
-
building, fencing or construction work;
-
lawn aeration, scarification or similar machinery;
-
tree or root growth;
-
rodents, animals or pests;
-
misuse or neglect;
-
alterations made by the customer or another contractor;
-
incorrect adjustment or programming after installation;
-
blocked drippers or filters caused by contamination;
-
changes to the property's plumbing;
-
changes or interruptions to the water supply;
-
insufficient water pressure or flow arising after installation;
-
electrical supply problems outside the irrigation system;
-
extreme weather;
-
frost or freezing damage;
-
flooding;
-
ground movement;
-
natural deterioration or normal wear and tear; or
-
failure to carry out reasonable ongoing maintenance.
If we inspect a reported warranty issue and determine that the cause falls outside the warranty, we will explain this to you and can normally provide a quotation for the required repair.
Frost & Winter Damage
Irrigation equipment containing water may be vulnerable to damage during freezing temperatures.
Customers are responsible for following any winter preparation or shutdown advice we provide.
Damage caused by frost or freezing conditions is not normally covered by our workmanship warranty unless the problem was caused by an installation fault for which we are responsible.
We can provide seasonal servicing and winter preparation where required.
Water Pressure & Supply
Your system will be designed using the water pressure and flow available or otherwise agreed at the time of installation.
Water pressure and flow can subsequently change due to factors outside our control, including:
-
mains water pressure;
-
increased household water demand;
-
plumbing alterations;
-
water company works;
-
pumps or tanks installed or altered by others; and
-
other changes to the property's water system.
Our warranty does not guarantee that the original system performance can be maintained if the water supply materially changes after installation.
Gardens & Plant Health
An irrigation system assists with providing water to lawns and plants, but many other factors affect plant and lawn health.
We therefore cannot guarantee the growth, appearance or survival of lawns, plants, trees or other vegetation.
Factors outside our control can include:
-
weather;
-
rainfall;
-
temperature;
-
soil conditions;
-
drainage;
-
disease;
-
pests;
-
fertilisation;
-
plant health;
-
mowing and lawn care; and
-
subsequent changes to irrigation programming.
Customers should continue to monitor their garden and adjust watering schedules according to seasonal and weather conditions.
Customer-Supplied Equipment
Where we install components or equipment supplied by the customer, our workmanship warranty applies to our installation work but does not cover defects within the customer-supplied product itself.
Any product warranty would need to be pursued with the retailer or manufacturer from whom the equipment was purchased.
Repairs & Alterations by Others
Our warranty may not apply to the affected part of an irrigation system where it has subsequently been altered, repaired, moved or interfered with by another contractor or person.
If another contractor carries out landscaping or building work near the system, we recommend they establish the location of irrigation pipework before excavation begins.
Routine Maintenance
Irrigation systems require ongoing maintenance.
Typical maintenance can include:
-
checking and cleaning filters;
-
checking sprinkler heads;
-
checking drip emitters;
-
inspecting valves and manifolds;
-
checking for leaks;
-
adjusting sprinkler coverage;
-
reviewing controller programmes;
-
checking pumps and tanks where fitted; and
-
seasonal or winter preparation.
Routine maintenance is not included within the installation warranty unless specifically stated within your quotation or service agreement.

Nothing in this warranty affects your statutory rights.
